Welcome to Cercy Stud

Seven years of contemplation and action!

Seven years. It has now been seven years since Haras de Cercy was reinvented. In 2013, the Société Coopérative Agricole des Eleveurs de Chevaux de Course ,”The Coop” was born. The founding idea was that the breeders themselves could stand and manage stallions, coming off the back of the disengagement of the French National Stud. Imagination and energy were required. Now seven years of contemplation and action have been brought to fruition, to become one of the most significant National Hunt stallion farms in France.

Jump racing – the root of the adventure that is Haras de Cercy. And the goal that has guided us since the beginning has not changed: to give every breeder means of access to an exceptional and affordable National Hunt genes. The success of our stallions, both on the tracks and in terms of covering numbers, is indisputable. This success is also a wonderful mark of recognition of the breeders’ confidence on the one hand, and of our choices on the other.

What can we say about 2019 ? Our nine stallions covered 735 mares. A new record for Cercy. The leader amongst these hasn’t changed – COKORIKO (Robin des Champs) covered 211 mares. He stays at the top and remains the n°1 French sire in terms of activity. This is a huge source of satisfaction for our team, especially as the results on the track for COKORIKO’s progeny are living up to all our expectations. With only two crops of racing age, our stallion is in the top 15 National Hunt sires in France!

There were nine stallions in our 2019 brochure. They are nine again this season. In a perpetual search for the best genes, in addition to the aforementioned COKORIKO, the 2020 team is characterized by its youth. It consists of ELLIPTIQUE (New Approach), FREE PORT LUX (Oasis Dream), KARAKTAR (High Chaparral), JEU ST ELOI (Saint des Saints) and TUNIS (Estejo). You can still, of course, find our Arc winner RAIL LINK (Dansili) on our roster. He will have his biggest number of French runners to date this year, and he has also produced some truly talented individuals from his first crop of French 3-year-olds.

To these seven, we have added two new recruits this season: POUR MOI (Montjeu) and IVANHOWE (Soldier Hollow). The former was the author of an unforgettable feat. He won the Epsom Derby in 2011, trained by André Fabre, breaking a French curse in the legendary English Classic. POUR MOI has, in addition, an exceptional pedigree, being a son of MONTJEU and out of a daughter of DARSHAAN, that legendary mating. With IVANHOWE, we are entering into the heart of an excellent German family. This quadruple Group 1 winner brings yet another new illustration of the quality and the diversity of our stallion roster.

We hope that you, the breeder, will feel the same wonderful enthusiasm for our stallions when looking through our guide as we do. Thank you for your loyalty and wishing you the very best for 2020!
