A Team of Eight for a pact of trust

The world has changed in 2020. The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic threw all our habits into disarray and caused us to reassess and reinvent all aspects of daily life. During this testing time, our stud succeeded in adapting to the situation. Our actions have become precautions, sanitary measures to protect ourselves and others. Last year, in this brochure, we declared that, “it is necessary to imagine and act”. This is still true today. More than ever. Count on us to stay on course and maintain our enterprising spirit. Solidarity takes on its full meaning, and this value has always been a part of our DNA.
It is difficult to tell a “happily ever after” story about this strange year of 2020. This is not a time for trumpets and beating of drums. And yet, we have survived this tempest as best we could, with you and thanks to you. With 796 mares covered during the 2020 season, Cercy improved on scores from previous years. These results confirm our position as the leading jumps operator in France, and are a result of combined efforts on behalf of breeders, in favour of fellow breeders.

Considering this context, it is necessary to concentrate upon the fundamentals. More than ever, our vocation is to offer you the best for jumps breeding. Our catalogue has evolved and adapted to the situation. Last year we stood nine stallions; in 2021 we will offer eight. Our flagship sire has not changed. COKORIKO covered 179 mares in 2020. He provides entire satisfaction, as the success of his progeny becomes more widespread season after season. With only three generations of racing age our headline sire is knocking on the door of the top 5 active French jumps sires. After POLIRICO (Prix Congress (Gr.2) 2018, 2nd Prix Alain de Breil (Gr.1) 2019), he registered three further individual Group winners in 2020. In France, FLYING STARTANDCO (Prix Leopold d’Orsetti (Gr.3) 2020), who is also a dual Listed winner, added to the successes of FIVE O’CLOCK (Gr.3) and FAKIERA (Gr.3) over hurdles in Ireland. We should also mention JE DEVIENS MOI, winner of the Prix Bayonnet (L), GRATOS DE L’ISLE, second in the Prix The Fellow (Gr.3) at Auteuil, GOODWIN (Prix Fenesac at Auteuil), as well as promising three-year-olds such as HADALINE, a hurdles winner at Compiègne. Cokoriko’s progeny are making an impact, and a name for their sire, on both sides of the Channel.

Our team of eight welcomes a new arrival, PRINCE GIBRALTAR. The National Hunt potential of this dual Gr.1 winner is evident, as he is the brother to a multiple winner over hurdles and hails from a maternal line boasting several Group winners over jumps. He possesses all the necessary attributes: a solid physique and two first crops aged two and three years old which are already enjoying success, including PRUNAY, 3rd in the Prix Aguado Gr.3 and Top Price at Arqana’s July Sale. Youth is always an important part of our offer. KARAKTAR, JEU ST ELOI and FREE PORT LUX, whose first juvenile runner was a winner, represent a concentration of illustrious French and international bloodlines. For his part, POUR MOI increases his count of winners week after week in Europe and now counts several top class jumps performers such as WOLF PRINCE, and LOOK MY WAY. Finally, TUNIS and IVANHOWE represent rare and exceptional opportunities to breed into proven European jumps pedigrees.

Each of these stallions is presented in detail in our brochure and in English on our website. We hope that this Team of Eight will satisfy your wishes and your demands. We have composed the team for you, during a time when passion is more important than ever. We thank you for your trust and wish you the best possible 2021.
